Because now, six years later, her daughter is going to school and is not short of anything. Karen has also made a lot of progress. She bought a new washing machine, instead of the old one that she taped shut with duct tape and she decided to get an education herself.
She put the rest of the money into a savings account for her daughter. This way she would always have something to eat, should she encounter difficulties later on.
